Hato Caves Curacao
The Hato Caves are situated on the north side of Curacao and only five minutes from the International Airport. Most visitors staying in Curacao property will arrive at this airport.
The Hato Cafes are over 200,000 years old and are the biggest and most prominent caves of the island. The caves were opened to the public officially in 1991 after intensive upgrading by the government so that it is accessible by foot. The caves are considered to be one of the most beautiful and public friendly caves of the island.
Curacao is formed in layers which are called terraces, and while most caves are found in the second terrace, the Hato Caves are uniquely found in the highest terrace which is the third terrace of the island.
The Hato Caves are a great place to visit especially when you see the unusual long-nose bats, stunning limestone formations, a romantic water pool and a statue of mother Maria holding her only child.
A visit to Hato Caves will allow you to experience the beauty, nature and history of Curacao.
