A Holiday in Barcelona for the Marvels of Gaudi

A HOLIDAY IN BARCELONA, the capital of Catalonia, introduces you to one of the richest and most fiercely independent areas in Spain. The Catalan people speak their own language and many do not believe themselves to be Spanish. The golden age of Catalonia was around the twelfth to fourteenth century, when Barcelona was the centre of the great maritime empire of Aragon. Outside Barcelona, Catalonia consists of the cities of Lleida, Girona and Tarragona and the Costa Brava stretching from the French border to Valencia.
