Alpujarra in Andalucia for Costa del Sol Holidays

A clump of COSTA DEL SOL HOLIDAYS villages and farms along the Sierra Nevada with its own mini climate where melting snow ensures a constant source of water in direct contrast to the arid foothills below. The last stand of the remaining Moors in 1568 when 25000 men fought guerrilla style in vicious attacks against the Christians in these mountains. Once the home of Gerald Brenan who moved here shortly after the first world war in a village called Yegen, he not only recounts his life in these beautiful mountains but its political history and agriculture since the Mesolithic age and the many visits from his friends such as Virginia Wolf and Lytton Strachey. The village even today still maintains its Berber and Muslim heritage.
