When on HOLIDAY IN BARCELONA why not take a trip to the Salvador Dali Museum? Almost fifty years ago the mayor of Figueres requested the famous artist to provide one picture to his homeland museum. However Dali made the decision to not provide them with merely a picture: he made the decision to provide them a whole museum. He purchased a burnt-out theatre and created what is the biggest temple of surrealism on the planet. He stated he had three good reasons to purchase this building. Firstly he was a very theatrical painter, secondly because the theatre was situated alongside the chapel where he was baptized and thirdly because his first exhibition was held in the entrance hall.
