Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation; Mallorca’s treasure

In the year 1940 residents of Paris received a visit they never anticipated; German troops under the control of Hitler invaded and occupied Paris. Many people had to vacate Paris fast among them an artist called Juan Miro and his wife Pilar Juncosa. They entered Spain to the city of Mallorca. As an artist he then founded the third ranked tourist attraction of Mallorca's 36; The Pilar and Joan Mir Foundation. While in Mallorca he had produced large sizes of artistic canvasses some dedicated to their grandchildren. Some of the canvasses are placed in New York in the modern art museum. The remaining pieces of art work are installed in Mallorca at Sert Workshop. This workshop was projected by his buddy and architect, Josep Lus Sert. A stopover at this workshop introduces you to Mir's paints, brushes, canvases and other objects. The Pilar and Joan Mir Foundation in situated in Mallorca was built in the year 1981 and was Mir's final will. He and his wife then donated it to the island of Mallorca with all their collectibles, canvasses and other content. It's all a fantastic quantity of art that is definitely worth visiting.
