Torre d’en Galmes

While visiting Torre d’en Galmes you must see the three Talayots which provide awesome views of the surrounding countryside and wonderful houses that are made of large stone in a circular shape. Another must see is the sophisticated water collection system that this town uses. The town collects water running down from the hill on the south side of town which involves channels of underground cisterns connected together to store the water. Soil is cleaned out of the water by a filter system made of concavities filled with stones. You can also see the military history of the Island in a large 15 room exhibit which occupies some of the old engineering barracks of Es Castell. While visiting Torre d’en Galmes please do not miss some of the old castles that are still standing.
